HRSDC Ontario Pay details for Live-in Caregivers
Caregivers in the live-in Caregiver program should not be paid anything less than the required minimum wage for each Province. Working conditions and wages are set by regions as each region has its own wage and working condition requirements.
Each Province allows you to pay Live-in Caregivers a minimum wage from which room-and-board may be deducted depending on the Province.
Deductions for taxes, CPP contributions and EI contributions must be made to CRA by the 15th of the month.

Please note the employer is responsible for a matching CPP contribution ($78.74 for the example above) and an EI contribution of 1.4 times the employees contribution.
Please be advised the rate wages for the Live-in Caregiver Program in Ontario have changed. As of January 2014, the prevailing wage rate has increased to $1,882.40 gross amount per month calculated at $10.86 an hour for a 40 hour work week. These rates are in effect for all of Ontario, as there will no longer be different wage rates for the GTA and areas outside the GTA.
Gross wages are calculated at 52 weeks per year.
